Board Member Spotlight: Shreeta Waldon

Shreeta Waldon is a living testament to the power of community-driven solutions. As a Board Member of the National Black Harm Reduction Network and Executive Director of the Kentucky Harm Reduction Coalition, Shreeta’s work meets people where they are with compassion, care, and a commitment to justice.

Guided by her Alma Mater, Clark Atlanta University’s powerful motto, “Find a way or make one,” Shreeta has dedicated her career to dismantling systems of oppression and advocating for harm reduction policies that prioritize prevention and access over prosecution and punishment. She earned her Master’s degree in Counseling from Argosy University, further equipping her with the skills to awaken the power that already exist within the people in our communities.

Her efforts have transformed lives, ensuring that Black communities have the education, tools, and resources needed to navigate addiction with dignity and hope. Shreeta also expanded her dedication to public service in 2024, running for the Kentucky State House of Representatives in District 44. Her campaign emphasized community-centered policies and representation that speaks to the lived realities of those most often ignored by the political system.

“Empowering communities is about more than providing services,” Shreeta says. “It’s about creating spaces where people feel seen, valued, and supported in their healing journey.”

From leading bold initiatives to address health disparities to advocating for policies that protect the most marginalized, Shreeta’s work reflects the heart of NBHRN’s mission. Her leadership is a cornerstone of our fight to ensure harm reduction is not just a strategy, but a movement for liberation.

We are honored to have her wisdom and determination guiding us as we push for transformative change in 2025 and beyond.
